ALISTAIR JOHNSON
( Ali )

20th August 1980 - 1st December 2008

Sadly Ali died on Monday 1st December 2008 after suffering an inoperable brain haemorrhage the previous week. Ali passed away peacefully at Hexham Hospital with his family round him.

Ali's funeral service was held at Haltwhistle Methodist Church, Haltwhistle on Monday 8th December followed by a cremation at West Road Crematorium, Newcastle which was then followed be 'refreshments' at Tynedale Rugby Club.

It was Ali's wishes that for his final journey he should wear the Tynedale No 1 rugby shirt and that his ashes be scattered at Wolf Hills, his family farm, so that he could "keep an eye on things".

Hundreds of mourners from far and wide packed the church, it's hall and adjoining streets to pay their respect to Ali and show support for his family.

Friends and family then met at Tynedale RFC for a social gathering which went on till late!

Donations if desired to the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

"Grieve not for me, my days are past
I loved you all while life did last
Yet think of me and comfort take
And love each other for my sake"

You can remember him and only that he's gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your eyes, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what he would want
Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
