Tynedale Colts Sponsored by Arnold Clark entertained Duns in the 3rd round of matches in the Semi-Junior Border League looking for a 1st win of the season.
Playing into the breeze it only took 3 minutes to get on the score sheet when the fired up Colts pack ripped straight into their opponents driving deep into the 22 and Dave Batey revelling in the freedom of the Back-Row barged over for a try. This was quickly followed by another by Prop Forward Angus White and the Tyne team's confidence was well up.
New boy Jack Liddle was having a very good game winning a load of ball at the front of the line and working well around the park. Tynedale were putting pressure on Duns all over the pitch with Matt Williams and Rob Parker at half back controlling the game like a pair of conductors with an orchestra, and when the ball went wide Ritchie Moreland finished the move with another try.

Neil Frankland had been working the forwards hard in training and this was definitely paying off, proving some of them were listening and actually able to take the information in. Graham Robson was the next forward over the line to finish a rumble with a flourish.
Duns then had their best spell of the game and were rewarded with a try, which was just reward for a battling effort where they never gave up. Just on Half-time after the Colts had destroyed the Duns scrum Matt Williams dived in the corner to score unfortunately damaging his shoulder in the process.

In the second half Batey, Jareth Main, Ryan Potts and Callun Young all scored tries. Youngsters Fraser McKenna, James Raine and Mark Barron all came on and played with passion and promise. Will "Usain" Brown tore up the turf on a couple of good runs, and Joe Northwood had his best game yet at hooker, throwing in well and rampaging in the loose play. But it has to be Rob Parker getting the Man of the Match award for his supremely cool and collected display at Fly half.
The Colts move on to host top of the league team Selkirk this week in what will be a much harder challenge.
