Tynedale Colts Sponsored by Arnold Clark Suffered a big defeat in the latest round of matches in the Border League at home to the league leaders Selkirk on Saturday. Facing the team that won both Seven's titles and being highest scorers in the league Tynedale knew they were in for a real test and were well up for the contest.
From the kick-off the Tyne lads were putting pressure on and matching the visitors early in the game. In the scrums the Colts pack gave their counterparts a real hard time, taking a lot of ball against the head and easily winning their own put-ins, but this was the only portion of the game where Tyne were winning because when the ball went out to the Youth Club backs they showed how to play fast attacking rugby.

By half-time the game was lost but the Colts battled to the end always trying to get some points on the board, they were well led by Ritch Ridley having a massive game carrying the ball more often and further than any other player.
Philip Hicks arriving late due to transport problems came on for a good second half display running with pace and style causing problems to the defence. But Selkirk coped with everything Tyne had to offer and just kept scoring from all over the pitch with even the Tynedale crowd enjoying the skill and talent of their opponents.
