Tynedale Colts continued their poor home form when they entertained Gala Wanderers on Saturday. The Colts sponsored by Arnold Clark had a lot of players missing due to injuries and holidays but were still able to turn out a squad of 22.
The 1st half was pretty much a stale-mate with a greasy ball and both teams looking to be lacking the confidence to try anything adventuress, it closed at 0-0.
Tynedale came out for the 2nd half with a more positive attitude and started to work the ball up field and taking the game up to the Wanderers 22 metre line, but when the ball was lost the Gala boys marched straight back down and scored. As is often the case another try soon followed and when a cross field clearance kick by Tyne landed in the arms of the Gala winger with no one in front of him it was an easy jog in to make it 20-0.
This stung the Blue and Whites into action and with Jack Outsen on at scrum half driving the forwards on Tynedale finished the game in charge, with Ben Ridley getting the first try which Ryan Potts converted and the with the last play Dave Batey scored try number 2 Rory Dixon adding the conversion.
Matt Chard was the pick of the Tynedale players, playing at centre for the first time carrying the ball well and strong in the tackle.
The Colts travel to Peebles this weekend with their unbeaten away record on the line.
