Selkirk Youth Club 38 v Tynedale Colts 7

On a cold and wet stereotypical scottish day, Tynedale Colts sponsored by Arnold Clark, took the trip over the border to Selkirk. With a depleated squad of only sixteen, the Colts played out an honourable defeat to the runaway league leaders.

The game started evenly with Tynedale having their fair share of possession and it seemed like a promising start. But after eight minutes Selkirk, with an extremely classy backline, took an early lead. They then scored another two tries in quick succession.

The Colts got there act together, with effective pick ups from the base of the scrum from number eight Graham Robson and a series of forward drives from the pack, along with some good running lines from Louis Frankland and Matthew Chard got the Colts camped on the Selkirk line, James 'the fridge' Raine went close on a few occassions but it was Adam Telfer, fresh from North of England trials, who barged his way over the line. Ryan Potts added the extras.

As is often the situation, a side are at their most vunerable after they have scored and this was the case with Tynedale getting another try put past them leaving it 19-7 at the interval.

After the break Selkirk came out proving why they were unbeaten this season scoring two consecutive tries early on, they scored again fifteen minutes later. The Colts kept their chins up though and put up a fight in the late stages, unfortunately they were unable to score.

Credit goes to Chris Heslop who was playing out of position at flanker and the God bothering Joe Crellin who played a solid game at prop. Man of the match goes to try scorer Adam Telfer who srummaged excellently and worked hard in the loose.

Tynedale Colts play Berwick tomorrow who are on level points with them.
