Tynedale Colts 5 v Hawick PSA 9

Tynedale went into the first of the group games of the east of scotland cup against second in the league Hawick PSA with high hopes. Tynedale started the game with vigour and positivity. The Colts got the first score of the game with a powerful yet feminin try by captain for the day Joseph Northwood, Rory Dixon failed to convert. Sam White with his herculean frame made some very strong runs handing off the Hawick defenders with relative ease. Great pressure in the form of Graham 'Chopper' Robson and big Jack Oustan engulfing the opposition fly half over his own line, unfortunately nothing came of the scrum that followed.

Tynedale disipline let them down and the Hawick PSA stand off kicked them to victory. Tynedale came close to winnung the game when Mick Cunningham broke through the defence and offloaded to Dixon coming on to it at pace but the referee ruled it a forward pass.

Jack Liddle performed well as always and Matt Matt Williams bossed the game well. Man of the match goes to Matt Chard who made strongs runs with good lines from full back.

Tynedale Colts travel up to Dunfermline on saturday for the next game in the group stages of the east of scotland cup.
