Ali's recovery could be long and arduous with no guarantees, however, if will power & determination count for anything Ali will make progress. When Ali leaves hospital the plan is for Ali to continue his rehabilitation at his Northumberland home (Wolf Hills) with the support of his family & the assistance of the local health & social services. His special needs in order to achieve an acceptable quality of life will be extensive and expensive. Tynedale RFC has pledged to support Ali in every way possible and has established the "Ali Johnson Appeal Trust" which aims to raise as much finance as possible in an 18 month period beginning January 2005.
So far the Trust committee has planned a calendar of fund raising events which it hopes will generate significant sums. In addition the club has written to over 1000 rugby clubs in the UK and to a large number of local businesses appealing for donations to the Trust fund.

Golf Tournament and Dinner - Friday September 16th 2005
(Wed 11th Jan 2006) - The BBC filmed Ali and some of his friends for a programme called "Inside Out" fronted by John Inverdale to be shown on BBC1 (North East & Cumbria) on Monday 23th January 2006 at 7.30pm. Filming took place at Tynedale Park and at 'Wolf Hills'.
The Club received an E-Mail from producer Andrew Hartley on Jan 18th :-
"Many thanks again for accommodating us so wonderfully well last Wednesday.
John (Inverdale) has very kindly agreed to donate his fee for making the item to Ali's Trust Fund - which says a lot about both his kindness and how impressed he was by both Ali and the way the club has responded."
