Remi returns to Alnwick
Alan (Remi) Moses has decided to return
to his 'home' club Alnwick after 5 successful years at Tynedale. Remi
feels that his new job as Northumberland's Youth Development Officer
will make it increasingly difficult for him to fulfil the training
and travelling required to play national league rugby and that the
time is right for him to return to Alnwick.
Remi has been a key personality at
Tynedale over recent seasons and he will be a big miss. We wish him
and Alnwick all the best for the future and thank Remi for his major
contribution to Tynedale Rugby Club over the past 5 years.

Significant Law Changes
2002-2003
- Kicks to start the match
and the second half will now be drop kicks.
- If the player in the
scrum half position enters the lineout then he must be the linout
jumper (he can't enter to be a support player).
- The tackled player must
release the ball imediately to any opponent who is standing and
has a hold of the ball.
2001-2002
- If the opposition stop a
"driving maul", the team in possession is allowed 5 seconds to restart the maul moving forward. Failure
to do so will constitute a turnover and will result in a scrum to
the opposition. Teams will be allowed only one attempt to re-start each maul - at the
second stoppage of the maul "use it or lose it" applies.
- A tackled player must not
place or push the ball into touch. The sanction is a penalty on
the 15 metre line.
- Law 20 defines how scrum
halves must put the ball into the scrum. The ball must be held in
both hands, midway between ankle and knee, with its major axis
parallel to the ground and thrown in "with quick speed, releasing
it outside the tunnel.
- The provision that a
scrum which is wheeled by more than 90 degrees shall result in a
turnover, will continue as an Experimental Law Valuation this
season.
2000-2001
- Kickers now have one
minute to complete their penalty or conversion kick - if they
exceed this time for a penalty attempt then a scrum is awarded to
the opposition.
- A player must not
voluntarily move or stand in a position that prevents an opponent
from tackling a ball carrier.
- Players must not charge
into a ruck or maul without binding onto a team-mate.
- Line outs and scrums
cannot be formed within 5 metres of the goal-line.
- At a tackle, or in close
proximity to a tackle, non-tacklers can only play the ball from
behind the ball and from behind the tackled/tackler players' back
foot.
- Any player who gains
possession of the ball at the tackle must play the ball
immediately by moving away, passing or kicking.
- When a scrum remains
stationary and the ball does not emerge immediately then a
re-scrum is awarded to the side who were not in possession at the
time of the stopped scrum.
- When a scrum becomes
stationary and does not start moving immediately then the ball
must emerge immediately otherwise a scrum is awarded to the
opposition.
- If a scrum wheels beyond
90 degrees then the re-scrum is awarded to the opposition.
- Pushover scrums still
possible - short holds/pauses before re-shove are
allowable.
- Sin Bins in operation.
Players in our league will be shown the yellow card and sent to a
designated area for ten minutes. The fourth official will manage
player's return. Offences which may result in a sin binning are
cautionable foul play, voluntarily offending ('professional
fouls'), repeated infringements by individual, repeated
infringements by team, acts contrary to good sportsmanship.
