Tynedale youngster 18-year-old Hamish Smales made his debut for England Counties on Saturday 11th March and in doing so became the youngest player ever to represent England Counties.
The England Counties team defeated their French counterparts 29-16 in Beaune and it was Hamish who sealed the victory with a fine individual try after 77 minutes when he scorched in from 75 yards. (View Report)
Hamish retained his place in the side for the home fixture against Tunisia on Saturday June 3rd 2006 at Broadstreet - the English Counties side winning 35-7.

Tynedale have entered a squad in a 10-a-side North-East Under 21 competition. Matches are played under floodlights (usually on Wednesday nights).
In the first series of matches on 12th October Tynedale beat Berwick (10-0), Morpeth (24-0) and Blyth (12-7) (these matches were hosted by Blyth).
In the second series of matches on 15th February Tynedale lost to Berwick (5-10), and beat Morpeth (26-5) and Blyth (19-0) (again these matches were hosted by Blyth).
Tyndale have qualified for the final of the event which will be held at Blaydon on Wednesday 15th March - 6.45pm start. (Note: was originally planned for March 8th)
Thanks are due to Andy Neal who has agreed to arrange and manage our squad. (As usual any other helpers would be welcome)
The seventh International Schools Tournament was held at Tynedale Park on Sunday 4th September 2005. The winners were Filton College, Bristol who defeated RGS Newcastle in the final.
The Filton 'B' squad won the Plate competition, defeating Northumberland Schools in the final. The Tynedale Schools squad lost out to RGS, Newcastle in the semi-final.

The club will again be fielding a 'veterans' side this season. John Eustace and Ian Lewis have got their heads together and the response to their pleading and bullying has been extremely positive.
The idea is that the Veterans will turn out roughly once a month, giving time for old worn muscles and joints to recover and also preventing players becoming 'tired' and lethargic from playing too many games!

Uncertainty as to the number of teams to be relegated from our league caused by the "cascade" effect has been removed by changes announced by the RFU Competition sub-committee. From our league (National 3 North) A MAXIMUM OF THREE CLUBS WILL ALWAYS BE RELEGATED regardless of who is relegated from the league above.
Thats the easy bit!!
The more complicated bit concerns how this is achieved - in order to sustain this change it may be necessary for a minimal number of clubs to move across ("level transfer") into a neighbouring league outside of their normal Constituent Body. (eg. If the bottom three teams in the league above us are all southern teams then to balance the leagues one or two clubs will be "level transferred" from National Three South into our league (National Three North) ). In the absence of volunteers a panel will be responsible for the decision on which clubs will be moved to another league.
Captains for season 2004-2005 have been appointed as follows:-
