1stXV

Successes against Hartlepool Rovers, Sheffield, Gosforth and Huddersfield. Drew with Northern - all Merit Table Clubs.

After a shaky start the selectors' faith in young players Billy Robson, Paul Walker, Percy Telfer, Richard Parker and Fred Dickinson was amply rewarded with a run of 14 games with only one defeat - and that in an away game, to Hawick, the Scottish Champions.

Further victories after Christmas, against Preston Grasshoppers and Blackheath. Highest scorer John Smith - 330 points.
