Orbituary

Martin English - 13th August 1989. A short ceremony was held at Tynedale Park on Easter Day, attended by members of his family and many of his playing colleagues during which an oak tree was dedicated to his memory.

Dorothy Mary Hunter - 25th January 1990. Mary offered sterling service to the club over many years and her ever cheerful fight for so long againt her illness was remarkable. to say the least.

1stXV

The season's playing results were disappointing for all senior sides compared with those of last season (88/89). A spate of injuries, including both 1st XV (Alan Gledson) and 2nd XV (Billy Robson) captains in the first few months had a massive impact.

The 1st XV just avoided relegation but did manage good victories over Durham City, Northern, Winnington Park and Preston Grasshoppers from higher divisions and over Scottish sides Jedforest and West of Scotland.

The 1st XV drew a match at Heriots FP, where in their Centenary year, Tynedale was the only English club to appear on their fixture list.

North of England honours

Alan Gledson, Richard Parker, Martin White and Chris Dixon were called up to the North of England squad.

County Colts

7 players represented Northumberland County Colts.

County Schools

6 played for the U18 schools, 5 for the U16 County schools side.

Hexham H.S.

Hexham High School teams trained regularly at Tynedale under Steve Mullins. They won the Northumberland & Durham Schools Cup - beating Dame Allan's in the final.

Club of the Year

The club was named "Club of the Year" at the Tynedale Sports Council awards. Alan Gledson took the "Sportsman of the year" award.

John Clark ("Clanky")

John Clark ended his two-year term as President of the club.
