Two members of the Tynedale Ladies Touch squad, Rhian Fabricius and Janette Evans, have been selected for the Eurostars Select W35s Touch Squad which will compete this month in the European Touch Senior Cup in Lisbon, Portugal. Unfortunately, due to other committments Janette is unable to take up the honour.

The ladies were originally recognised when seven Tynedale RFC Ladies players were selected to play for the first ever North East Raiders Women’s over 35’s team who played at the Masters Nationals in Nottingham which was held in September.
It was an amazing experience for the ladies who had to train hard prior to the tournament in order to play to England Touch rules which introduced greater fitness and organisational challenges

The North East Raiders played five 40 minute matches over two days against the South East, Midlands and North West regional sides.. It was a steep learning curve, in both defence and attack, but the Raiders played well in all their matches against tough competition from teams that boasted many England players.

As a result of their individual performances at that competition Tynedale players Rhian and Janette were selected for the Eurostars team. The Eurostars team comprises of players from
England, Ireland, The Netherlands, France, Belgium, Scotland, Finland and Switzerland and will compete against other national teams in the Lisbon tournament.
