Running for Ali - Photos

E-Mail received Wed 28th Sept 2005
Thanks from Ali
What can the Johnson family say but a HUGE THANK YOU to all the runners, backup team, the rugby clubs and all the people who sponsored the runners and helped raise the magnificent total - a tremendous effort by all. Last weekend was a difficult time for us all, Ali relived every hour on the 25th but we are all looking forward to a better year. Ali's visits to the Mind Instructor at London are very encouraging - after all he has nothing to lose and with no help from the NHS physio etc he feels he has to give it a try. Please remember the door at Wolfhills is always open, Ali likes to be kept up to date with the gossip ! On the 28th Ali had a visit from Jason Leonard - yes Bullet we did ask all your questions and we have his authograph for you. Many thanks once again - The Johnson family.

Many thanks once again and good luck for a good rugby season , no doubt Ali will meet up with the team before long. Sheila."

Fylde RFC - Tuesday 23rd August 2005

The 'Running for Ali' team arrived at Fylde's Woodlands ground in good time at the end of the 2nd stage of their epic relay run around all National Three (North) league clubs. When they arrived at 17.30 on the evening of Tuesday 23rd August they had completed 142 out of a total of 695 miles in a trip that will end back at Tynedale's ground on Sunday 28th August.

Fylde's President Bill Abbotson handed over a cheque for £2,500 to runner Ed Holmes. This is the Club's first payment to the Ali Johnson Trust Fund and will be increased to almost £3,500 when the takings from other events have been consolidated. Ed Holmes said: "Everyone associated with Tynedale and Ali's Trust Fund is so grateful to Fylde for the fantastic support they've given Ali during this last year."

The second photo is of the group of runners and their support team pictured with Bill holding a plaque given to the Club by the runners in recognition of the support given by Fylde to Ali Johnson.

The Club has also raised some £4,000 for the North West Air Ambulance Service whose helicopter and paramedics gave such superb assistance to Ali before flying him to the Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.
