13 seconds before Tynedale had their hands on the ball! Meanwhile the opposition had scored one try.
With three minutes on the watch, Old Albanians were over the Tyne line but unable to ground the ball which led to a five metre scrum to the home side. Two minutes later, they were over the line again but for the second time they were unable to ground the ball, which meant they were awarded another five metre scrum. This led to a penalty try when the front row broke up and fullback, Richard Gregg converted the try and the score was Old Albanians 7 Tynedale 0 on six minutes.
With 14 minutes played, blind side flanker, Ollie Cooper-Smith, scored a try just to the left of the posts and Gregg added the extras, so Old Albanians led by 14 points.
Five minutes later, scrum half, Stefan Liebenberg, took a quick penalty, and Tyne infringed by not retiring ten metres, this led to the home side opting for a penalty scrum just twelve metres from the Tynedale line but the visitors defence held strong.
On 23 minutes, Albanians No.8, Matt Chambers, scored a try just twelve metres from the right hand touch and Gregg failed with his conversion attempt, which made it Old Albanians 19
Tynedale 0.
Four minutes later, left winger, Ollie Marchon, intercepted on the Albanians ten metre line breaking away to score a try 20 metres from the left hand touch and Gregg converted the try, which meant Old Albanians led by 26 points.
31 minutes into the first half, centre, Terry Adams, received a short pass just short of the Tyne line to score a try just to the left of the posts and Gregg converted the try and it was the first time the score had beaten the clock with the score Old Albanians 33 Tynedale 0.
Scrum half, Harry Peck, had the opportunity to put points on the board for Tynedale, as he took a quick tap penalty, but he was tackled just short on the Albanians line and unfortunately knocked on, after 34 minutes. At that moment lock, Graham Dunn, was given a yellow card, the referee, Nick Cockburn. He did not explain why.
With 36 minutes on the clock, fly half, James Shanahan, scored a try just 15 metres from the left hand touch, Gregg failed with the conversion so the score was Old Albanians 38 Tynedale 0.
Two minutes later, hooker, Dave Cherry, was given a yellow card for persistent offending not rolling away at the tackle according to the referee's assessor, Michael Carr, that was four penalties in a row conceded by Tynedale.
From the scrum five this resulted in a try from fullback, Harry Mountain, who dotted the ball down just 16 metres from the right touch line, fly half, George Cullen kicked the conversion and for the first time Tynedale had points on the board with the score Old Albanians 38 Tynedale 7. Cullen came off and was replaced by Alex Fieldhouse at fly half, and Peter Weightman came onto the wing. Tyne played better with 13 men than they had played with the full complement, playing keep ball, denying Albanians any possession of the ball!
On 52 minutes, centre, Terry Adams, was yellow carded. Cherry having served his ten minutes was admitted back onto the field and McGuigan came off, blind side flanker, Ben Frankland, was restored to his place in the back row. 15 minutes into the second half lock, Jonny Cousin was replaced by the second debutant, Fraser Wem, and Frankland, to be replaced by McGuigan in the back row.
27 minutes into the second half, prop, John Staff, was yellow carded.
With 70 minutes played, lock and captain, Billy Johnson, intercepted on Tynedale ten metre line and ran 45 metres to score under the posts. Sam Stanley kicked the extras and the score was Old Albanians 45 Tynedale 7.
Three minutes later, open side flanker, Matt Hankin, scorded a try and Stanley kicked the conversion so Albanians had increased their score to 52 points.
One minute before the end, centre and Man of the Match, Thomas Bramwell, broke to score a good try only five metres from the right hand touch. Mountain missed the conversion as the breeze blew it across the posts.
At the death, Shanahan, beat Mountain with an outrageous dummy as he came across to tackle him and put the ball down under the Tynedale posts, Shanahan attempted to drop kick his own conversion but ball didn't go through the posts but it went around the posts! So the final score was Old Albanians 57 Tynedale 17. Albanians won the first half 38 - 0 but Tynedale lost the second 19 - 17, a much better reflection of the match!
I think the Old Albanians team was determined to give their Director of Rugby and Fly Half,
James Shanahan, a memorable send off before his departure to Plymouth in the South West and Tynedale was just the "whipping boys!"

Old Albanians 57 v 1st XV 17
Colts at Selkirk 7s
With the pressure off, Tyne travel to 5th place Old Albanians tomorrow in the last game of the season.
They could actually finish 7th if they were to take five points and other results go their way!
After beating them in their first game of the season in National One, Albanians have had a great initiation and have won their last five games in a row.
After scoring five tries last weekend, Tynedale are the leagues joint top try scorers in home games with 77, along with Rosslyn Park and overall, only three clubs have scored more tries than Tyne's 118 - Ealing (140), Esher (128) & Rosslyn Park (119).
Hamish Smales is the sixth top try scorer in the league with 18.

Tynedale Raiders are once again Candy league champions for the 5th time in seven
Tynedale Raiders are once again Candy league champions for the 5th time in seven years!
They have won 15 out of 16 games, scoring 746 points and conceding only 174, a massive points difference of 572, more than twice that of any other team.
They also lost in the semi final of the Senior (First team) County Cup to Percy Park, a very creditable performance given that Park ply their trade only two leagues below our 1st XV!
Our Raiders are the club second team who provide an invaluable service to both nurture the clubs future young talent as they progress from our Youth Section rugby and also provide a vehicle for first team squad members to regain their form or fitness. It is important that this is done in a social environment but that the rugby is of a high enough standard to develop and challenge the players and firmly establish them as Tynedale players of the future. It is a system developed over many years which has helped to maintain the higher percentage of home grown players selected than most other teams in National League One, the third tier in the national structure behind the Premiership and the Championship.
They have been coached by Steve Dunn, Tom Bramald and Matthew Fieldhouse who has consistently provided new ideas for the players to work on with a great deal of success.
Team captain Dave Grattan moved to Bristol half way through the season but returned on Saturday to help his side beat Yorkshire's previously unbeaten Wharfedale Foresters 34-21 and receive the Candy league trophy for 2012-13.
He, along with Dicky Hall, Simon Allan and Johnny Mock have typified the spirit of the Raiders over the last few seasons, ably managed by the ageless Mike Fieldhouse.
