HUDDERSFIELD v TYNEDALE
Before leagues were introduced in 1987, Tynedale played Huddersfield several times in “friendly” matches!
The first match was at Huddersfield at their old ground (Waterloo) on 28th October 1978 which Tynedale won 9-3. The next match at Huddersfield, two seasons later, was memorable for the fact that despite leading 19-0 at one stage Tynedale conspired to lose the match 19-20!
The first time Huddersfield visited Tynedale Park was on 27th October 1979 when Tynedale won 16-10.
Since 1994 there have been sixteen League matches between the two sides.
Those matches have produced the following Tynedale results:-
Played 16, Won 10, Drawn 1, Lost 5, Pts For 386, Pts Against 310

MARCUS STEWART
In recent years Huddersfield Town legend Marcus Stewart, who played for the Town from 1996 to-2000 (and later for Ipswich Town and Sunderland) has become a popular figure at Huddersfield RUFC and a loyal supporter of the Huddersfield team.
Both the former Premiership football star's sons, Kian and Finlay, have represented Huddersfield’s 1st XV with distinction and were last season's joint top leading try scorers. Kian played full-back and Finlay on the wing against Tynedale last October.
In September 2022 Marcus was diagnosed with MND and has decided to do something to raise awareness of, and funds for the fight against the dreadful condition.
On the weekend of 22nd to 24th March Marcus and fellow former football professional Stephen Darby, who both have MND, are doing their bit to further the cause through a 175 mile walk from Bradford to Liverpool taking in 17 football stadiums that the pair have graced in their playing careers. The Huddersfield leg of the 'March of the Day' leaves the John Smith's Stadium in Huddersfield at 4pm on Friday 22nd March.
TYNEDALE V HUDDERSFIELD THIS SEASON
The earlier fixture between the clubs took place at Tynedale Park on 7th October 2023 with Tynedale recording a 33-18 victory which was our first victory of the season after opening with five straight defeats.
In a relative free-scoring first half a hat-trick of tries from Jacob Oliver helped Tyne to a 27-13 interval lead. The second half was a relatively drab affair – not helped by a couple of yellow cards. With Tyne down to 13 players for a period Huddersfield scored the only second half try with Tyne restricted to two successful penalties.
HUDDERSFIELD THIS SEASON
Its fair to say that Huddersfield have not had a great season and currently prop the league up. They are, however, showing positive signs and will be looking to build on their last home game when they comfortably dispatched Billingham. Tyne always have a tough time down at Huddersfield and expect nothing different on Saturday.
