ROBERT BENSON WELCH (known as Robin)

The Club are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Robin Welch, who was probably Tynedale's oldest surviving past player.

Robin died on the 21st June, aged 95 years.

He had played for Tynedale 1stXV in the 1950's as a three-quarter, mainly in the centre, He occasionally played in the back row.

Robin was a lifelong member and supporter of the club and was a regular attender at home 1stXV matches until the Covid epidemic struck.

Robin was husband of the late Elizabeth, father of Susan and Hugh and a much loved grandfather and great-grandfather,

Robin's funeral service and burial took place on 6th July, at St. James' Church, Riding Mill.
