  • (Feb 2023) - Sadly we have to report the death of Geoff Fox on 1st February 2023, aged 78. Geoff, a forester from Kielder, played for the 1stXV in the 1960's and 1970's as a prop or second row where he was renowned for his great strength and hard, quiet, uncompromising manner. Geoff continued to watch the 1stXV matches for many years after his retirement from playing.
  • (Jan 2023) - We are sorry to have to report the death of William (Bill) Edger from Morpeth, a longstanding supporter of Tynedale Rugby Club.
  • Bill was for many years one of a group of pals who acted as gatekeepers at Tynedale Park, controlling admittance to home matches in a firm but friendly manner. Along with John Cousin, he, Walter Rutherford, Tom Stainthorpe, 'George' Watson and John Drew together formed a stalwart team for many years. After retiring as a gateman Bill continued to support the club, and retained an interest in the Club’s activities until his death.
  • (Jan 02 2023) - Sadly ex-player Len Howie has passed away.
  • Len played for Tyndale RFC as an excellent front row forward in the 1960's. Len moved with his work to Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire many years ago where he played a leading part in the establishment and development of the Chipping Norton Rugby Club where he was made an Honorary Life President.
  • (Jan 01 2023) - Sadly Judge Geoffrey Voss died on January 1st at Wentworth Grange after suffering ill health for several years. Geoffrey Voss was a keen member and supporter of the club for many years and was a welcoming personality when he served on the gate at the club for 1stXV matches.

CLUBHOUSE & GROUND RELATED

  • The club had received £1600 in rent for allowing the production team of Vera to use the car park over a recent 4 day filming.
  • Work has been carried out on the drainage (or lack of it) from the north side of the clubhouse and tarmac car park area. The work included adding a drainage pipe to the main council pipe and demolishing the round brick structure which was designed as a keg, and waste storage area but hasn't been used for years. The next step under consideration is to build an area where the growing number of large wheelie bins can be stored.
  • Many members will be wondering what the big wooden hut-like structure is that has sprung up at the front of the clubhouse. Many think it could be the beginnings of an executive box destined for John Shotton and guests, but it is in fact going to house a milk-vending machine which is being installed all at Peepy Farm, Newton's expense and hopefully bring in some profit to the Club.
  • The rebuilding of the stone wall adjacent to our main entrance has been completed.
  • Preliminary work has started on the planned extension of the hard-core car park.
  • Cameras have been installed inside and out to provide extensive CCTV coverage of the clubhouse and ground.
  • Plans are under way to construct a raised outside patio/decking area at the east side of the bar. The disabled access will be repositioned to the north side of the main entrance.
  • Initial discussions are taking place concerning options to re-structure the bar/social room area. This includes the removal of the internal wall separating the two bar area and replacing with a movable wooden 'partition' wall.
  • The Club are seeking quotations to convert the old, redundant bath space into players toilets.
