Report taken from "The Rugby Paper":-
A bitterly cold day did not prevent a cracking game between two well-matched sides as Tynedale narrowly held off Otley.
Otley will rue a string of penalties when well placed, as they were still pressing for a winner at the end.
Tynedale were first to show, when a solid catch and drive from a lineout brought a try for Ralph Johnston, but the patient handling of the Otley backs was rewarded with a try for Sam Taylor after 21 minutes.
Back came Tynedale with a kick and chase try for Euan Forlow, converted by Ryan Scott, before a missed tackle in midfield allowed Otley's Rory Gaffney to go in under the posts, Gavin Stead bringing things level from the tee.
A well judged crosskick was gobbled up by Joe Beaty for Tynedale's third try after 36 minutes, Scott again converting, before a Joe Rowntree penalty made it 19-15 at the break.
Tynedale extended their lead nine minutes into the second half when the excellent Owen Vassallo rounded off good work by the forwards, Scott adding the extras.
A late score by Sam Waddington, converted by Stead, set up a nerve jangling last five minutes but the Tynedale defence held firm.
