MACCLESFIELD RUFC v TYNEDALE RFC
Saturday 15th November 2025 (KO 3pm)

The 1stXV heads south into Cheshire this weekend to renew matches against Macclesfield after a seven year absence.
While the 1stXV head down the M6 we are delighted to welcome to Tynedale Park our old friends from Morpeth who play our Raiders in a County Cup fixture.
Enjoy your day everyone!

MACCLESFIELD RUFC
A few facts about Saturday’s opponents:-
• Rugby was established under the auspices of the 8th Cheshire Rifle Volunteers in 1874.
• Macclesfield Rugby Football Club was formed in 1877 – playing at the Cricket Club.
• Macclesfield affiliated to the Rugby Union in 1878.
• J.W.H. Thorp, captain of Macclesfield, President of Cheshire 1883, was President of the Rugby Football Union in 1898.
• Present club formed in 1927.
• Club ‘lodged’ at Kings’ School then moved to London Road in 1950.
• New grounds at Tytherington in 1961. Final move to Priory Park in 1980.

  • Macclesfield own 36 acres of their own land, Tynedale 35 acres.
  • Both sides play in blue and white.

MACCLESFIELD V TYNEDALE
In the 33 matches between the two clubs since 1995 Tynedale lead by 19 wins to 13, with one match famously drawn (1996).

’CLICKETY CLICK’ BEATS ‘PICK AND MIX’ (OR ‘HALF A CROWN’)
Last Saturday Tynedale defeated Hull RUFC at Corbridge by 66 points to 26.
On the 11 October 2025, earlier this season, Macclesfield beat the same opponents, Hull RUFC by the same score, 66-26!

This would suggest that the teams will be well matched at Macclesfield this weekend in a high-scoring game. BINGO!
However, Tynedale supporters should be very, very wary. Macclesfield scored their 66 points as the away team v Hull. Furthermore, they scored 66 points once again last Saturday at Scunthorpe. It seems to have become a habit!

THIS SEASON
Macclesfield have made an exciting return to National 2 North and currently sit in fourth place, one places below Tynedale. They certainly know where the try line is being only second in ‘Points For’ to unbeaten league leaders Sheffield. However, whilst their away record is 100% (averaging 56.75 points a game) they have stumbled at home to Fylde and leaders Sheffield.
