SHEFFIEL RUFC v TYNEDALE RFC
Saturday 21st March 2026 (KO 3pm)
This Saturday our 1stXV head to South Yorkshire to take on champions elect Sheffield RUFC. The Raiders will travel with the 1stXV to play Sheffield 2ndXV.
Also on the road are our Hadrians, who are at Novos, and our Colts who are playing Gala at Volunteer Park, Hawick in the final of the Border Bowl.

Currently the Centurions do not have a match so it’s a well deserved break for Tynedale Park and all our staff.

SHEFFIELD RUFC
Sheffield RUFC was founded in 1902.
The original ground was in the Sandygate area of Sheffield. Sheffield RUFC moved their ground to the other side of Sheffield, Tinsley, in search of better facilities.
It wasn't until 1919, after the Great War, that Sheffield RUFC was to find its current home at Abbeydale Park, Totley Rise.

TYNEDALE v SHEFFIELD LEAGUE MATCHES
Tynedale1st XV have played eight times against Sheffield 1st XV in the leagues.
The first match was on the 4th November 2017. The return that season at Sheffield was postponed and then not played as the result would not have affected the final table.
The Tynedale squad for that game was:-

So far this season, they have played 20 matches, won 20, and earned 99 points already. Who can catch them?
Tynedale have been the only club to deny Sheffield 5 points from a game. In our 8-14 defeat back in November we managed to deny a rampant Sheffield team from scoring four tries!

SHEFFIELD SHOULD FINISH TOP THIS SEASON - FOR A CHANGE!
Without finishing top of any league Sheffield somehow managed to gain five promotions with second place successes in 2003, 2011, 2015, 2017 and 2022.

SHEFFIELD THIS SEASON
Sheffield, who were runners-up to Leeds Tykes last season, have had an outstanding season securing 99 league points from a possible 100 – only failing to pick up a try bonus point in one match which was in their 14-8 victory at Tynedale in November.
Sheffield require a maximum of 13 league pints from their 6 remaining matches to secure the league championship so it is fair to say they are ‘champions elect’.
Tynedale, however, love a challenge and have always enjoyed playing league leaders. We also, of course, will be keen to push for the runners-up position and a subsequent play-off.
