The weather, a glorious sunny autumn afternoon on a perfect pitch and wonderful setting, almost matched the hospitality of this most welcoming club.

From the off Huddersfield played a slick game and, after 15 minutes, their big centre grabbed the ball at second call and powered over to give the home side a 5-0 lead.

Tynedale came storming back, moving the ball at every opportunity, until the home defence eventually relented. On 24 minutes new recruit Jack Edwards went over in the corner for a debut try and 5-5.

Eight minutes later Owen Vassello, continuing his comeback after being blighted by injury, powered over for Tynedale's second and a 5-10 lead.
Edwards clearly hadn't finished. On 35 minutes he crossed for his second try, Josh Leslie adding the conversion to make it 5–17. A Huddersfield penalty on 39 minutes brought the half to a close at Huddersfield 8-17 Tynedale.

Tynedale struck almost immediately after the restart. On 43 minutes Leslie produced a classic fly-half's try: distributions galore had lulled the defence into expecting yet another pass before a show-and-go took him clean through and under the posts. He converted his own try and suddenly it was 8-24.

But Huddersfield were far from done and, on 68 minutes, produced arguably the try of the match. Superb timing of the pass released their left wing, who glided effortlessly through a hole in the Tynedale defence and under the posts. The conversion reduced the gap to 15-24.

Any thoughts of a home revival lasted about 2 minutes. Just after the restart Tynedale charged down a Huddersfield kick and substitute Ollie Green was on hand to touch down. Substitute Cam Grant converted and, on 71 minutes, it was 15-31.

The final word deservedly belonged to the forwards, who had held the edge throughout. On 75 minutes Isaac Keller powered over for Tynedale's sixth try, Grant again adding the extras to complete a convincing 15–38 victory.

Six tries, a debut double for Jack Edwards, Owen Vassello continuing his welcome return, and a performance which gathered authority as the afternoon wore on.
A warm autumn afternoon with even warmer hospitality in the Presidents Bar ended a memorable trip to the heartbeat of Yorkshire.
