Tough encounter

Facing a strong wind Tynedale went behind in the 4th minute when Morpeth forwards drove them back over the try line following a lineout 10 metres out showing great technique and using their vast experience to devastating effect.
This gave Tynedale a wake up call and after great work from Josh Turnbull, Brogan Miller, Mark Smales and Charlie Rutherford, Adam Binks sped over to draw Tynedale level on 9 mins.

Using the elements to their favour, Morpeth took the lead again following a lineout from a penalty kicked into touch on the 22, they edged forward before scoring from another maul in similar fashion to their opening score.
On 25 mins following a good handling movement in the difficult conditions, the Morpeth centre scored close to the posts, despite a valiant defensive effort by debutant Joe Matthew's, to make the successful conversion relatively easy.
Despite Tynedale producing a good passage of play with Rich Moreland, Jonathon Gormley, James Sample, Rob Earnshaw and Phil Scandle all making strong contributions to the game it was Morpeth who added a penalty kick before half time to lead 20- 5.

With a strong replacement bench Tynedale introduced Rory Craney and Ian Charlton to the proceedings and with Rory Dixon kicking to great effect with the wind at his back they were able to gain territorial advantage and played long periods in the Morpeth half.
On 48 mins the Centurions reduced the Morpeth lead when Dixon scored following good play by Jason Armstrong and George Hendry. From the restart Morpeth kept the pressure on the Tynedale line and were finally awarded a penalty which was struck well into the gusty wind to give them a two score advantage.
The Centurions restarted and following a strong break by Ollie Shrimpton and powerful scrummaging from young Ed Weir with Harry Renwick offering support Rob Earnshaw crossed for the third Tynedale try. The strong Morpeth side then closed off the game in the Tynedale half to gain a hard earned victory in an entertaining contest in difficult conditions.
