TYNEDALE’S U13s are celebrating after they were victorious in an annual tournament.
They hosted the annual Four Counties Challenge, with Ripon and Harrogate representing Yorkshire, Carlisle and Upper Eden turning out for Cumbria, and Durham City and Westoe playing for County Durham.
The group stages were closely fought and saw some impressive rugby played by all teams.
Tynedale improved steadily as the group stages progressed, and emerged top of their group to face the other group winners, Carlisle, in the final.

They saved their best rugby for the final match, winning by five tries to zero and keeping the Cumbrians penned in their half for much of the game to deliver their best performance of the season.
The scoring was opened by powerful tighthead prop Dan McLeod, who showed great pace and strength with a thunderous run for his third try of the tournament.
Second-row Thomas Bacon then squeezed in at the corner for Tyne’s second try, following good work from the forwards. That good work continued when back row Harry Wilson extended the lead even further, scooping up fly-half Will Laidler’s chip through before holding off a couple of defenders as he crashed over the line.
The backs got in on the act, when winger Orson McAleer scored the fourth try and made the game safe.
McAleer burst through the middle of Carlisle’s defence, before racing to the line to score the try his fine defensive work throughout the tournament had deserved.
Wilson then scored his second of the match and his fifth of the tournament, following a trademark steal of the ball before powering over the line.
