MANAGEMENT CHANGES AT TYNEDALE RFC

There are to be several significant changes to the Management Committee at Tynedale from the 1st July 2025.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE.
After 5 years at the helm Harry Cornforth is stepping down as Chief Executive and Paul Williams will take over.

Having spent his early career in the South East of England Paul moved to Corbridge 30 years ago and following various roles as Head of Sales, Operations and Managing Director of Convergys in Newcastle he founded Voicentric in 2002. The company specialises in sales lead generation in the global Analytical Instruments market. Paul now acts as Chair of the Trust which owns the company on behalf of its employees.

All 4 of Paul’s children played at Tynedale as Juniors and Colts between 1997 and 2011 during which time he coached and organised tours to Amsterdam and Munster. Son-in law James Ferguson and son, Matt, played for Tynedale Raiders in recent years.

Commenting on his appointment, subject to AGM ratification, Paul commented ‘I like to think I will bring to the Management Team a focus on making the club as fantastic as possible for the players, supporters, sponsors, the local community and last but not least – the volunteers who make it happen…. while living within our means.’

COMMERCIAL CHAIR.
Ian Lewis has served the club as Head of Commercial Activities for several years and has overseen the creation of a team of talented individuals looking after the many different income earning streams so vital to the club.
‘Squidge’ will hand over his leadership role to Richie Gledson, well known to members of the club as owner of Sky High Sports and son of former club captain and coach, Alan Gledson. Richie has been instrumental in arranging several recent incoming tours and events at the club and is keen to expand them further.

CHAIR OF THE JUNIOR SECTION.
Andrew Neal is to take up a role with Northumberland RFU in Age Group Rugby and has relinquished his position at Tynedale to concentrate on the new challenge. The club wholeheartedly supports this move and wishes him well in his new venture.
Keeley Wilkie-Smith will step into the role having spent several years managing age groups in which her children play. Keeley’s talents lie in marketing and communication, and she is keen to increase the involvement of several ladies in the administrative running of Age Group Rugby.
Tommy Matthews will assist Keeley with Rugby Coaching and Playing aspects of her position.

Tynedale is a thriving, highly active club which requires volunteers with many different talents and experiences to run it. The efforts of Harry, Ian and Andrew have been substantial in establishing Tynedale as the leading community-based amateur rugby club in the North East. We thank them most sincerely whilst welcoming Paul, Richie, Keeley and Tommy to their new roles.
