Report taken from "The Rugby Paper":-
Tynedale were deserved winners of this competitive match between the two Dales in good playing conditions.
Playing down the slope, they scored after just five minutes through the impressive Chris Wearmouth, who scored a second five minutes later both of which were converted by the boot of Jake Rodgers.
Not to be out-done Wharfedale stand-off Tom Mann scored after 18 minutes and converted his own try.
A third Tynedale try to put them clear was scored by Ralph Johnston from a maul. This too was converted by Rodgers.
After ten minutes of the second half, man of the match Rodgers crept over in the corner for a try which proved to be a crucial score.
After this, Oliver Cigognini and Ryan Carlson scored good tries, both converted by Mann, but the home side were unable to get any closer to their visitors in a match which was by no means a classic.
Tynedale's pack took the honours which was no mean feat because Wharfedale had proved to be stronger up-front in previous matches.
Wharfedale, in an attempt to play open rugby in their usual style were far too loose and did not play at the pace which sees them at their best.
Errors were commonplace and credit must go to the north-easterners for maintaining the higher standards on the day. This was a deserved win for them.
The match was played in good spirit as is customary between these two sides and the return fixture will be eagerly anticipated.
