SCUNTHORPE RUFC
Scunthorpe Rugby Club was formed in 1929 and played its first fixtures in a field owned by a local farmer, on condition that the goal posts were moved after each game so that the animals could return to graze.
From these humble beginnings the club progressed and was able to move to its own ground in 1952. Since then the club have been based at Haslam Park in the middle of Scunthorpe, which they share with Scunthorpe Town cricket club.

SCUNTHORPE THIS SEASON
Scunthorpe have found their season back in National 2 (North) very difficult, opening the season with only one victory in their first 12 games - not helped by a string of injuries to key players.
The team has, however, recently shown signs of a resurgence recording 3 victories in their last 7 matches with a win at Fylde being particularly noteworthy.
Scunthorpe currently sit 2nd bottom in the table, 3 points behind Rossendale and 8 points behind Otley with a game in hand over both sides.
Our 1stXV know that they will be facing a fired-up Scunthorpe side on Saturday.
