Strong Raiders performance

Tynedale second selected side made the journey to Crow Trees to take on their local rivals in a friendly fixture. The home side had all the early territorial advantage and took an early deserved lead with a penalty in the eighth minute after Tynedale were penalised for not rolling away after a tackle.
The visitors then began to gain better possession from the restart and were beginning to build pressure in the Blaydon half and soon took the lead when scrum half Matt Williams combined with Tom Robson who fed Jay West coming into the line with pace, he sped through the defensive gap before racing over the line after 25 mins to score a well worked try.
With the front row of Gus White, Owen Shield and Adam Telfer dominating in the set piece, the back row pairing of Rob Stanwix and Jacob Brown were able to make use of the quality ball and the third member of the unit, Tom McCullough extended the lead after 20 mins, Thomas Beatty converted.
With James Sample and Charlie Ruchards making great ground with the ball it was Gus White who scored the next try on 30 mins, when the Blaydon defence could not hold out against the blue and white pressure and the loose head prop charged over the line, with Beatty converting Tynedale held a 19-3 lead at the break.
The interval allowed the sides a welcome break from the high speed action but Tynedale were soon pressuring the Blaydon line and after good work by James Ferguson and the veesatile captain Micky Hall, playing centre for the day, winger Seb Jansen finished off the move to score a try on 46 mins.
With a quality replacements bench available Callum Young and Callum Morrell were brought onto the field and the fresh legs added fresh threatsto the Blaydon side and five minutes later the pacy Jay West scored his second try of the game.
The front row was changed with promising youngsters David O'Neil and Lewis Spark coming on alongside Jack Bullen, playing at hooker instead of usual position in the back row. The changes only strengthened the Tynedale dominance and despite losing skipper Hall to a knee injury, the replacement wing Callum Young outpaced his opposite number on the outside to score after 65mins.
The final score came from Jack Bullen with five minutes remaining to complete a well deserved victory against a Blaydon side who deserve credit for fulfilling the fixture despite struggling to raise a complete squad due to injuries and non availabilities.
