Raiders back to winning ways

In perfect conditions, Tynedale faced their North Yorkshire opponents and having kicked off the Yorkshire immediately conceded the opening try, when the Tynedale backline ran strongly at the Harrogate line and Callum Young scored the opening try in the first minute, fly half Thomas Beatty added the conversion.
From the restart the Harrogate side gained possession and attacked the Tynedale line but strong defence, with Tom McCullough, Jacob Brown and Tom Robson being tested in defence, before Robson and Josh Leslie, making his club debut, broke away to feed Charlie Richards who charged through the visitors defence to score the second try, Beatty converted from a wide angle. The next try came after Seb Jansen attacked the Harrogate winger, James Ferguson, loaned to the Yorkshire side for the day, but was tackled well by his usual team mate, the ball was recycled left before the strong running Rory Dixon broke away for the third try Beatty converted with a drop goal.
With scrum half Matt Williams determined to play an attacking game, Tynedale were winning good ball at the set piece, through the strong front row of Liam Carmichael , captain Ed Craney and Dan Lowden allowing Williams to launch wave after wave of attacking play, supported well by the strong runs of Dicky Hall and Rory Dixon scored two further tries to complete his hat trick.
TheHarrogate side were strengthened by the addition of Tynedale's Adam Telfer who gallantly offered his services to the Harrogate side, coming off the Tynedsle replacement bench, and before the half time break, scored a converted try to leave the home side leading 31 - 7.
The lead was extended when Josh Leslie scored the opening try of the half following good play by Tommy Matthews, Owen Loughead and Dicky Dunn. The Tynedale side then widened the gap when Jacob Brown contested at the front of the line to disrupt the Harrogate possession before McCullough and Matthews combined to turnover the loose ball and Williams fed Thomas Beatty to allow the young improving fly half to score a try under the posts he added the conversion.
Far from letting the game die as a contest the Harrogate side came back with two tries, one scored by James Ferguson and a conversion, led by their strong scrum half to narrow the Tynedale advantage.
The home side realised that the Harrogate opponents were not going to concede the game without a fight and were soon back on the attack and Charlie Richards, having his best game since returning to the club scored the seventh try, Beatty converted before Richards scored a great individual effort, taking on the Harrogate winger, kicking ahead for the ball to stay in play near the touchline before picking up the loose ball to score the last try of the game to complete his man of the match performance and complete the victory against the hard working Yorkshire outfit.
