A strong Tynedale side met their local rivals for the CANDY league fixture at Tynedale Park in great conditions with the ground looking magnificent in the spring sunshine. The home side took the lead after five minutes when the pack won quick ruck ball and when the ball was spun left to wing James Ferguson he sprinted home from 35 metres to score the opening try. The second row combination of Dicky Dunn and Will Nankeville were able to win a great amount of line out possession and great support play from the tireless efforts of Jacob Brown were giving Tynedale the upper hand in the contest and scrum half Dan Kerr, usually used as a strong running centre, found a gap in the visiting defence to score the second try, followed shortly after by a Micky Hall try to give Tynedale the upper hand.
The next try came from man of the match Donald Stembridge, fly half Cam Grant added the conversion. The Tynedale front row of Owen Loughead, captain Ed Craney and Jonny Dodd were dominating the scrummage set piece and Will Richards used clean ball to score the next try, converted by Grant. The lead was extended when Rory Dixon powered over for a try converted by Grant. The impressive Grant then almost broke through the visiting line but was halted by a great covering last ditch tackle by the Blaydon defence, however a skilful offload found Tom Robson in support for him to score the try. One further try from Stembridge gave Tynedale a 46- 0 lead at half time.
A strong team talk at half time led to Blaydon producing their best spell of play after the break and they scored a try to reduce the Tynedale advantage. With the home front row being replaced at the interval, youngsters David O' Neill and Ollie Wall coming from the bench alongside the experienced Adam Telfer the Tynedale pack began to dominate the forward battle and Grant scored the next try, adding the conversion himself.Two further Stembridge tries, taking his personal tally to four in the match, both converted by Grant, followed as Tynedale took a command of the game. The home side made the final change when Tom Kirkup came from the sidelines with Micky Hall moving into the backs and were now finding gaps in the tiring Blaydon defence and further tries came from Grant, Will Richards, Hall and Jacob Brown, all converted by fly half Grant to produce another high scoring winning margin for the Raiders side.
