Centenary Sevens

Sunday 24th April 1994 saw the celebration of the centenary of the first Sevens Competition held on English soil. It was 100 years since the Club hosted the first ever sevens tournament in England which was held on Whit Monday , May 21st 1884, on the Sele at Hexham.

In a magnificent tournament at Tynedale Park the final between the South African 'Villagers' team and the Australian 'Manly' side, was a fitting climax to a superb day organised by a committee under the chairmanship of John Suddes.
