RORY CRAMB (17.05.1997 - 24.12,2023)
TYNEDALE RUGBY CLUB is extremely saddened to announce the tragic death at the age of 26 of Rory Cramb, a much-loved player, member, and friend of the Tynedale Rugby Club family.
Following a fall Rory suffered a devastating head injury and after several days in hospital under intensive care he sadly passed away on Christmas Eve.
Tributes have been pouring in from throughout the rugby world and beyond.
A very popular young man, Rory developed as a talented centre through the junior section at Tynedale and frequently represented the club at both 1st XV and Raiders level.
His last game was in the 1st XV against Billingham on December 16th where he was prominent in a fine win. It was due to be his final appearance for the club before moving to Wales for a new job.
Rory was the son of former Scottish international fly half Richard Cramb, who himself played for Tynedale for four seasons, as well as serving as chairman of rugby.
Rory played for Tynedale first XV in the centre or on the wing on 23 occasions from 2019, scoring one try. He would have played more but for being away at university and injuries.
Our hearts, minds and prayers go out to Suzy, Richard and all of Rory’s family and friends whose worlds have been turned upside down by their loss.
FROM THE CEO ANNUAL REPORT:-
The past year, whilst enjoyable watching some wonderful rugby, was completely
overshadowed by the devastating death of Rory Cramb.
Having watched him play for the First XV I was shocked to be told of his subsequent accident and transfer to hospital.
As several days elapsed it became evident that his injuries were serious.
His death still came as a tremendous blow. The incredible turnout of players, supporters, other club representatives and friends at Rory’s funeral was very moving and demonstrated the warmth and affection with which he and his parents were held.
